Our Vintage Resist Textiles are tie-dyed, just one type of indigo resist dying techniques. These originate in West Africa. Also known as strip-weave cloth, the fabric is first handwoven in long narrow strips on small looms, then indigo tie-dyed. The long narrow strips are hand-stitched together vertically, creating a rectangular finished textile.
