Description: "When I found this little collection of vintage car boxes made in 1930s India, I was so charmed I bought them all— even though I wasn’t exactly sure what they were. A little research just left me more confused. Not only did I find one selling on 1stdibs for more than $1,300 (!), I also discovered all manner of purported origins: watercolor tray, tobacco box, bindi box, nut dish, children’s toy. I still can't quite figure it out... but whatever they started out as, I imagine one would make the perfect catch-all on a dresser or desk today.
