Vintage Swedish Panoramic Photo

Found in Sweden, this vintage postcard features a black and white panoramic photograph of the New York Harbor and the ill-fated PS General Slocum, a passenger steamboat built in Brooklyn in 1891. Named for Civil War general and New York congressman Henry Warner Slocum, this ship served as an excursion boat until it tragically caught fire and sank in the East River in 1904. Shot sometime before this untimely end, this antique postcard is displayed exactly as we found it, with its original cherry wood frame, glass and aged backing.
