Vintage Swedish Charcoal

Born in Stockholm in 1891, Gideon Börje was a Swedish naïve artist, remembered for his stylistic depictions of the Scandinavian wilderness, as well as portraits of his friends and colleagues. Featured in galleries and exhibition throughout the early 20th century, his works are still on display in museums across Sweden today. One of his earlier works, this abstract charcoal etching depicts a quiet landscape scene. We’ve displayed this original hand-signed piece with new glass, matting, backing and a distressed wood frame.
