Ikat Trays

Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

If you’re anything like us, that thought has you both marveling at how quickly another year has gone by and daydreaming about your holiday tablescape. After all, with a menu so strictly dictated by tradition, the dinner table décor feels like the one place where a little creativity is allowed. And the perfect way to mix in something new? Our one-of-a-kind Ikat Trays.

For anyone who doesn’t have an obsession with the textiles of the world, ikat is a centuries-old resist-dye process with origins in Central Asia. Unlike other resist-dyeing methods, ikat patterns are dyed directly onto individual threads before the fabric is woven, creating more intricate motifs in a variety of vibrant colors.

Our Ikat Trays are handcrafted in England from authentic cuts of this striking textile, molded into simple shapes and finished with a protective coating that makes them great for serving up your fare and easy to wipe down when the fete has come to an end.

As long-time fans of this fabric in pillow form, we’re loving it as a global-chic layer on the dining table. We settled on a few favorite prints and created a collection with something for everyone, from bright, bold geometric motifs to modern, monochromatic zig zags, as well as a gorgeous traditional pattern with an authentic feel.

The uses for these beauties are truly endless. Swap the smaller size in for bread or dessert plates, create a display of sweets or hors d’oeuvres, tote cocktails from kitchen to coffee table, or use them for serving up sides at the main meal. They’re also equally practical when the party’s over — great as catch-alls around the house or as a vibrant tray on the ottoman or bar.

Great as a boho-inspired backdrop for whatever you serve up, we think they’d really pop alongside that china you inherited from your grandmother — the perfect way to set a table that preserves tradition while also weaving in a little personality that’s all you.
