Vintage Charcoal Drawing - Horse


Ernest Hidderly Fairhurst. b. 1911, d. 1989. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He trained at the Academia De Bellas Artesin Buenos Aires and worked in the studio of Jorge Larco. In 1936 he came to England and furthered his studies at the Chelsea Polytechnic, the Slade and also at the Beaux Arts in Paris. He then worked as an illustrator for Vogue before returning to Argentina in 1939. Over the next 25 years he worked in Buenos Aires and New York, finally returning to England in 1965. There he worked from a studio in Bayswater painting predominantly portraits and equestrian subjects.
