As an artist with a wide array of interests and talents, Harry Smith is known for creating the Anthology of American Folk Music in addition to his practices in painting, experimental film, self-taught anthropological study and collecting unusual objects. Smith was a true Beat-era eccentric with an appetite for accumulating information about the things he found fascinating and studying and cataloguing them. As a collector of tarot cards, Seminole textiles, records, and more, Smith was interested in how objects communicate and that everyday emphemera can have anthropological importance. Paper Airplanes: The Collections of Harry Smith, is the first in a multi-volume catalogue raisonné of items Smith has gleaned over the course of his lifetime. This compendium of paper airplanes were collected over twenty years in New York City, where Smith spent the second half of his life after initially being involved in the San Francisco beatnik scene. Each airplane is photographed tenderly and with great detail, allowing you to sense the texture of the paper and any print or handwritten notes written on them. In the true spirit of Harry Smith, Paper Airplanes makes a quotidian item feel special and speaks to the simple but effective craftsmanship of a layman's handiwork.

Return Policy

Non-furniture Merchandise
Return non-furniture items purchased on our website within 30 days of original delivery for a full refund. We will inspect the returned item(s) and issue a refund to the same credit card used for original purchase. You will receive a confirmation email once we have processed your credit. All shipping charges are non-refundable and will be deducted from your refund.


In-stock Furniture Items

We accept returns of furniture in its original condition when you contact us within 14 days of receiving your item. We will arrange to have the item(s) picked up by a local freight company, who will contact you to coordinate pick up. Once returned to our warehouse, we will inspect your item(s) and issue a refund accordingly. Damage or other conditional issues may require deductions from your refund.
