Vintage Miners' Bottles
Sometimes it's hard to remember what we did to pass the time before we had technology to fill every waking wireless moment. Perhaps that's why we were especially charmed when we found this stash of miners' bottles, colorful relics of simpler days. Crafted by Eastern European miners, they are made of brightly colored detonation wire, decoratively woven around empty wine bottles. It is believed that these one-of-a-kind pieces were created while the guys were relaxing, waiting for their shifts to begin - or during the time a mine had to be evacuated as a precautionary measure. Nowadays, in addition to adding a bright splash of color to a book shelf, a miners' bottle or two might just be the inspiration you need to relax, unwind, and unplug for a change. Maybe with a glass of wine?
